"Creating Interior decorations that comfort the mind and body."

Kawashima Textile’s interior fabric business was launched by Jimbei Kawashima II, the company’s second president, when he received an order from the Meiji Palace. Mr. Kawashima had studied the textile-rich interior decorations of various countries and had decided early on to launch an interior decoration business in Japan. He developed the concept of creating comfortable interior spaces, which contrasted with the conventional approach of embellishing only individual interior features such as windows, walls and so on. He introduced presentation methods unique for the time, such as miniature models and showrooms.

Kawashima Textile has adopted Mr. Kawashima’s vision as its corporate policy, offering a comprehensive image that considers the impact of interior decorations on the entire space, even when supplying only a single component of the interior. As part of this effort, Kawashima emphasizes the pursuit of originality and high quality while working to develop new technologies and new markets.
